Sure it’s a challenge to create and photograph and post about 12 ornament projects 12 days in a row. But you know what I find more challenging? Coming up with interesting things to say 12 days in a row …
I fear I may have hit the wall.
The words have dried up.
My brain has turned to mush.
Maybe the glue fumes are finally getting to me …
All I know is I know nothing. Other than this particular ornament design was inspired by a project I spotted on Michaels. You can see the original inspiration here …
and my interpretation here …
I started with a mason jar lid that I spray painted white. Once dry, I brushed with some Mod Podge.
And glittered. Heavily.
While the glitter dried, I cut the faux snow bottom off my bottle brush tree.
And then I gave that little tree a hair cut. I trimmed the needles on one side so it would lie flat against the lid.
I used a bit of modeling clay to attach the tree to the lid. And added some glue to keep it all in place.
A jingle bell was hot glued to the top to give me a place to add a baker’s twine hoop.
I wonder if my Christmas ornament crazy crafting friends are running out of words too? Clearly they aren’t running out of amazing ideas …

These are Super. So cute with the little bell on top, plus it gives a way of hanging it without drilling a hole through the canning ring. Clever idea.
One thing I have plenty of is canning rings and flats.
Thank you

It’s hard on everyone. I mean what’s a commenter to do? How many ways can you say “I love it!” “it’s so cute!” ? I particularly like these though. Love the glitter snow.

Love this ornament!!! The bell on top is perfect. This would be great on gift packages/bags! Hmmm, never used modeling clay. Guess I could get some at Michaels. Thanks for sharing.

Adorable! I love those bottle brush trees and haven’t ever used them. I think it’s time to remedy that!

I happen to love your version much better. The snowman in Michaels looks kinda cheesy. Yours is prettier by far. I just might have to make somethose for our items to put in craft show on 12/13. After all the hard work we’re doing to get holiday items made we’re hoping we’re accepted in the juried show.
Have to get some canning rings anyway, no extras for some reason. Would be something quick and easy to make. Have to have photos of items, application for license and show with money by 11/30. It’s been hard to get things spray painted tho as paint starts to gel up doing it outdoors, just cold enuf.
No snow here yet tho, maybe tomorrow night and Sunday, maybe. Will be 37 for high on Sunday. Have you gotten a lot in Chicago? Is it super cold already?
Hope you have a great weekend and holidays
Linda says
It’s definitely cold here in Chicago! I’ve been spray painting in the garage and then the next day bringing them indoors to fully cure. Just takes me longer than usual to get things done! And thank you so much for your very kind words about my ornament!!! 🙂 Linda

Where are the “bottle brush” available?
Linda says
You can find them seasonally at craft stores or year round from Factory Direct Crafts.
