Do you remember the day …
the week …
the moment …
when you were hit by the holiday spirit this year?
Or maybe it wasn’t an all-at-once kind of thing. Maybe it’s been a slow roll. A gradual growing.
Or (gasp) maybe it hasn’t hit you yet?
Luckily there’s still 25 days left to get your merry on! 🙂
For me, it was a moment. A moment at Mendards (a regional hardware chain).
It was a mid-November morning. It was cold. Very cold. And snowing. Lightly snowing …
but snowing nonetheless.
The first snowfall of the season.
After dropping my daughter at school, I swung by Menards to pick up some paint rollers …
and discovered Christmas.
Oh happy day!
And as I strolled through aisle after aisle of lights and faux trees and faux wreaths and plastic Santas and candy canes and bright red bows, I was overwhelmed with unbridled joy. And merriment.
My heart was filled with Christmas.
I can’t recall the last time I felt quite so excited for the holidays. And not just excited, but stress-free excited.
Maybe it’s because I’ve shed any pre-Christmas commitments this year. No looming deadlines for a blogger holiday home tour. No looming deadlines for sponsored posts.
I’m a free agent.
And this freedom has emboldened me.
For the first time in like … ever … I started decorating for Christmas on the day after Thanksgiving.
And for the first time in like … ever … I tried my hand at creating free printable holiday gift tags. 🙂

Thanks! I can use all the help I can get! Then I saw your Christmas trees on Hershey’s kisses, which led to the little Santa’s and elves using wine corks…I want to make them all but no time! Guess I’ll be bookmarking for next year! 😉
