guest post from Life in the Thrifty Lane

January 20, 2012 By Linda 6 Comments

Today Veronica at Life in the Thrifty Lane takes over the blog.  Enjoy!

Hello everyone! I am so excited to be here guest posting at it all started with paint!
I’m Veronica and I blog over at Life In The Thrifty Lane.

Today I want to share my laundry room makeover.

This is a pic before we started working on it. Boring boring boring…

I really didn’t like the color of the cabinets (the same that I have in the kitchen too) and since it is the first room you get into from the garage we all set all sort of things that we have in hand on the washer and dryer. So I am always moving things from the washer to the dryer or vice versa.
And now give a look at our “new” laundry room:
We sanded the cabinets doors and painted them white. Hubby attached a shelf using a piece of wood that we already had in the garage on top of the utilities. Added a new crown molding and knobs.

The most expensive thing from the renovation were the knobs that I got from Anthropologie (around $28 for all of them). Quite expensive for knobs but I was in love with that color! And finally I found the right place for those cute little birds that I got on sale at Michael’s.
I placed a basket that I got at the thrifty store on the shelf so we can all put miscellaneous things inside instead    of leaving them on the washer/dryer.
Here is the Before/After pic:
Thanks again for having me over Linda!

Please stop by my blog and check out the rest of my projects, I love to make new bloggy friends. You can also find me on:

Thank you Veronica.  And now your wonderful post about your laundry room transformation (love that new molding … the knobs … the birds) has forced me to admit two very real truths:

1) I don’t do the laundry.  My husband took over that job long, long ago.  You see, I start a load.  And forget about it.  For a day.  Or two.  Then have to rewash that wrinkled load.  And forget. Rinse and repeat.  Same goes for the dryer …

2) My laundry room is a dump.  Chances are you may never, ever see a picture of the laundry room dump here on the blog.  Maybe if it was prettier I would be a much more attentive launderer …?

So I told you all about Veronica here last week when she generously asked me to guest post on her blog.  However, I’ve been digging around at Life in the Thrifty Lane and discovered  that Veronica possesses some serious culinary skills.  Did you know about this?  If not, then you – and you know who — must check out some of these (just click on the pictures for the recipe)…

Thank you again Veronica for commandeering my blog today.  You see, I need to spend the day getting ready for this …

The January 31 multi-blog link party is quickly approaching …

Sure…. lure me in with a laundry room makeover and then tempt me with pictures of food. So since I’d rather cook than do laundry, I’m gonna stay out of my “dump” today too!

Shows what a little imagination and elbow grease will do! (I have a similar wall color in my kitchen and have the aqua/lettuce accents.) And YES! Come to Haven! (Do you know Kerry at HouseTalkN? She convinced me! She is from Illinois, but not my fave Chicago.)
