The sun is not cooperating with my plans for a home tour this week. My house is dark even on the sunniest of days. Forget about when it’s gloomy out. It’s a reality of city living. There’s a mere three feet separating us from our neighbors …
… and real estate for windows is at a premium.
I planned to start the tour with our kitchen remodel. It’s the project that jump-started my desire to refresh our home and, ultimately, start this blog …
… but we don’t get any natural light in this room. It has no window (don’t be deceived by the photo above; that’s a pass through to our family room addition). Another reality of city life in an old home: Not much room for expansion. And when we do, there’s always a sacrifice to be made.
So I’m holding out for just one more day for sunshine. Our local weatherman, Tom Skilling, has been leading me on all week …
But who am I kidding? It is November in Chicago, after all. We probably won’t see the sun again until sometime in March, if we’re lucky.

Yes, Tom Skilling has been lying to us for many years about the weather. LOL I am enjoying your blog since discovering it last week. I work in the Windy City, but live in NWI. Thanks for sharing…looking forward to seeing more of your home. – Patty

Patty, I hope my husband doesn’t read that comment. He’s a Tom Skilling groupie! So glad you found my blog and plan to come back for more … I figured my only real follower is my sister!

I love your vintage black phone! I have spent way to much time ignoring my family to peruse your lovely blog!
