And I use the term “plate wall” very, very lightly when describing this …
Because this is, without a doubt, a lightweight plate wall.
Now I didn’t start out dreaming of a lightweight plate wall. In my mind’s eye, I was going for something a bit more welterweight. Like this …
Or maybe middleweight. Like this …
Oh who am I kidding, I had dreams of something heavyweight. The Mohammad Ali of plate walls. Like this …
So I scoured the thrift stores. Picking up plates and bowls that had any combination of navy and white or navy and orange or white and orange or some combination of all three … and more.
And I stashed away that selection of navy and white and orange thrift store plates until I was ready to work on the dining room remodel. And stashed those plates remained as I painted the tops of the walls navy. And stashed those plates remained as I beefed up the dining room baseboards. And stashed away those plates remained as I hung and caulked and painted the board and batten. And when the major structural change were completed, and I was ready to decorate …
I couldn’t figure out what to do with those stashed away plates. I couldn’t figure out where that amazing, heavyweight Mohammad Ali of plate walls could go …
Or how it could be configured ….
Thus my dreams of a plate wall were dashed. Until I found this super cool clock at Target …
and some fun plastic plates at Target …
that I attached to the wall with Command poster strips.
*sigh*
You read that right. I hung those plates on the wall with Command poster strips …
and fear not for our safety, the plates are plastic.
And while my Command poster strip plate wall is absolutely a lightweight when compared to those other welter- and middle- and heavyweight plate walls …
it make me smile every time I walk through my remodeled dining room.
