Sage Green and Burgundy Red Velvet Bows Christmas Living Room – Living Room Christmas Decor
There are decorating days that I feel like Andy from A Devil Wears Prada.
Today is one of those days.
As background, Andy is a wannabe journalist and fashion novice who takes a job at a fashion magazine. She’s the assistant to it’s demanding Editor-in-Chief, Miranda.
In a now-famous scene from the movie, Andy snickers when an assistant editor exclaims how difficult it is to choose between two turquoise belts. Andy (and I) find them identical.
Hence the snicker.
Miranda goes on to berate Andy about how decisions made “in this room” and on the pages of the magazine have (unknowingly to Andy) influenced her choice of the lumpy blue sweater she’s wearing. How the cerulean blue hue was the signature color of some famous designer’s show a few years back. And how the color featured prominently on the magazine’s fashion pages. And how it trickled down to the commercial market until Andy fished it out of a some store’s bargain sales bin.
Ouch.
Now I thought I was oh-so-clever and original when I chose (or did I?) sage green and burgundy red velvet as my signature Christmas decorating colors this year.
And lo and behold I found the perfectly sage-y green pillow covers on Amazon to fulfill my sage green dreams.

Now I just needed the burgundy red velvet, and I found this amazing ribbon roll offering three different sizes of ribbon.

And when I wanted some faux flowers I found the perfect sage green hue to compliment the pillows.

Wow, I’m thinking. Look how easily this has fallen into place. And I’m patting myself on the back for being so clever. And trend-setting (in my mind). 😉
Until I walk into Target and there at the bargain sales bin section at the front of the store I have my Andy’s-lumpy-blue-sweater moment. Because front and center are little sage green trees …
and it hits me. I didn’t really choose these colors.
Someone else did. At some home decor magazine. Or some giant retailer.
And this sage green and burgundy red velvet combination was probably featured prominently in the pages of Elle Decor or House Beautiful or Magnolia Magazine a few years ago …
before it trickled down to me when dished them out of the bargain sales bin at Target.
Sigh.
Regardless of who truly decided my Christmas decorating coloring scheme, I’m very much enjoying how it looks. Especially at night when it glows. 🙂

Oh Andy…er Linda….I know just how you feel! (And quite frankly, I couldn’t tell the difference between those turquoise belts either!) Your tree looks lovely. Did you wire those pinecones on, or are they ornaments? They are a nice touch. Hope your Holidays are Merry! 😉

I’m so late at getting back to you! My apologies! Andy has been busy running riduculous errands for Miranda! 😉 Oh and the pinecones are just placed in the tree. I try to nestle them in the branches. But they do fall off from time to time (giving the dog a fright!). Hope you had a lovely holiday season and best wishes in the New Year!!!
