Where have I been?
Good question.
I’d love to say I’ve been traveling the world. Climbing summits. Sunning myself on exotic beaches. Swimming with the dolphins.
But lo and behold, I’ve been here. In Chicago.
Though, in all honesty, I have taken a trip to the land of hard-knock-life-lessons-learned. With a few day trips into the towns of “what was I thinking” and “why did I wait so long to do this” where I commiserated with fellow procrastinators.
You see, it was time to move my daughter into her new room (which was my son’s old room). And when I say time, I mean racing against the clock before he returned home from college for the summer.
And where he wanted orange for his room, she wants a teen girl room that is white. All white.
Floor to ceiling white ….
And that’s when I learned the down side of being so free with splashing colors on my walls. “It’s just paint” turned into three-to-four coats of primer and white to cover all that teen boy room orange and black and gray.
Sigh.
The room is still a project. But we have paint. We have a chandelier. We have a new bed frame that needs assembly. Side tables that need a few coats of paint. Lamps with the sweetest blush pink shades. Gray and white striped curtains that have been hung.
I’m hoping to share a reveal soon.
But the good news is the rooms are switched. The heavy lifting is done …
and all my chickens are home to roost for the summer! 🙂

I was going to email you if you didn’t post today…I’ve been worried about you! 10 years ago, my daughter wanted an all-white room, too. Luckily it was on top of pale pink. How was freshman year?

You were ready to send out a search party, weren’t you? 🙂 Just struggling with my blog mojo. As in I don’t have much mojo going on! Oh, and freshman year had some ups … and downs. But I think we ended strong. Still waiting on those final grades to be posted … 🙂

We’ll have to coordinate schedules next time. I’m thinking I might be back there next week! 🙂

Hi Linda, I LIVE in “Why did I wait so long to do this.” If I’d known you were coming I would have invited you to lunch! The room is going to look lovely. Enjoy having a full house!
Linda says
LOL! Lunch sounds good. With a very looooong conversation about all things we want to do! 🙂

I love it when the chickens are home to roost. My favorite time of year.
