It wasn’t too long after we brought our one-year-old beagle home from the shelter that we realized he couldn’t possibly be all dog …
First off, he’s way too lethargic. You can find him snoozing here all day long …
… which I deem very cat-like behavior …
… and not all beagle-like.
And if he’s not snoozing, he’s grooming himself.
That’s right. Ernie the beagle spends time meticulously licking his paws …
… just like a cat.
Trouble is, I’d love to immortalize him like this …
But that would require some sort of action shot. Well, maybe not full-on action. At the very least a shot of him standing up …
… and all I have are lying down and snoozing shots …
… which would give me a silhouette of a big old blob.
And it doesn’t help matters that he hates it when I point the camera in his direction …
Oops. I woke him.
But see? See that look of contempt on his furry, long-whiskered face?
That’s a very cat-like “get out of my face” look if you ask me …
Now I’ll be sharing my cat-dog with the Wordless Wednesday ladieshere … and at Funky Junk here …
And have you heard about our impromptu link party that goes live on Friday, March 2? I’ll be co-hosting with these lovely ladies …
You can find out more by clicking on the button …
We’ll stay open for a week … so get your blog goals in order and link up!
Such a cute face! 🙂

i have a beagle, too! and a basset/beagle mix. and right now i am listening to the rain and the sound of my dogs snoring. this is what they do all day, too- sometimes they go outside and run around like puppies, but then it’s back inside to either lay on their bed or bask in the sun and nap there.
cute cute pictures.
You’re lucky – we adopted a dog (that lasted 1 week until he bit someone on the face giving them 11 stitches!), and he was a wild freak! Give me lethargic over that any day!

My dog sleeps all day too but when she gets a burst of energy she really goes for it.
My first dog for my 5th birthday was a beagle. I named it after my parents first dog that was a beagle. Then my dad got another beagle, and his beagle and my beagle made another beagle that we kept. All those beagles are long gone, and now I have a puggle 30 years later. Can’t beat that beagle disposition even when they aren’t sleeping.

Your dog is so beautiful. Great photos!
Oh, I love his face. I just want to scratch those ears.
so cute! I think Ernie needs to be friends with my beagle, Wilson. He hasn’t gotten off the couch yet today.
THAT is the dog I need. Will you share?
So cute! And definitely the only kind of dog I would want!
What a cute dog – totally my type. BTW, loving this tribe gig – awesome!
Hi! Your dog is really sweet! I guess he just want to enjoy the cosy home and sofa after living at the shelter. Also the licking might be just a way to comfort himself. I love to watch sleeping dogs!
